Our client, a legal firm based in Adelaide CBD seeks an experienced Legal Secretary to join their team.

The Role

You will work with a legal team for a recognised industry expert that focuses on acting for health professionals predominantly in defence of civil claims of medical negligence, representing health practitioners at coronial inquests, and in disciplinary proceedings.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and editing drafts, confirming that the transcription is correct, complete, and consistent.
  • Transcribing the dictation or notes of a legal practitioner.
  • Producing a variety of documents from handwritten/typewritten drafts.
  • Setting up new files accurately and speedily on instruction.
  • To attend to both clients and lawyers in a professional manner.
  • Takes pride in accurate record management.
  • Maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of records.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with transcribing from dictation recordings.
  • Fast and accurate typing skills.
  • Medical typist or legal secretarial background, coupled with a very strong eye for detail and accuracy with systems would be advantageous.
  • Experience with formatting documents.
  • Highly developed organisation and communication skills.
  • The ability to operate independently with a high level of initiative.
  • Good IT skills and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
